Softball Recap: Workman Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Workman, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past the Pomona Red Devils 18-5 on Monday. Considering the Lobos have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sydney Rivera and Alondra Devora made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Rivera tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Devora tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. What's more, Rivera posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At bat, Rivera got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Devora got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Workman got a massive performance out of McKenna Weller, who went 1-for-3 with seven RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Weller is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in four or more in each of the last three games she's played. Leana Sanchez was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Workman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .757. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Workman pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Pomona, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
