Mountain Pointe (Phoenix, Ariz.) snapped Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.)'s 9-game winning streak, with a 30-0 victory on Saturday.
The Pride were up 7-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Antonio Hinojosa in the second quarter.
Mountain Pointe expanded its lead to 27 points entering the fourth quarter. MP scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Hinojosa to
Emmanuel Butler.
The Pride put up 20 points in the third quarter en route to the win. Mountain Pointe scored on a Hinojosa touchdown pass to Butler, a
Thomas Warren touchdown run and a touchdown run by Hinojosa in the quarter.
Hinojosa played well for MP in the victory. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
The Pride had given up an average of 15.6 points prior to the contest. The zero points that the Broncos ended with were well below their average of 43.2 coming into the game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which Brophy College Prep took, 28-3.
The defeat comes as a step back for Brophy College Prep, which notched a 14-13 victory over Red Mountain in its previous outing.
