2A Agua Fria Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Jamerrius Anthony Dazzles in Cortez Loss
Starting off the list is Cortez's Jamerrius Anthony, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Anthony rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
For the season, Anthony has thrown 1 touchdown (and no picks) while averaging 19.6 passing yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after eight games last season, he was only averaging 18.88 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 71.38 rushing yards.

Michael Anthony Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Another Cortez player making an appearance on this list is Michael Anthony. He rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (100.2). He didn't just play on offense: he also forced a fumble and made nine total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Anthony is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Kingman Academy on Friday. When Anthony last faced the Tigers back in October of 2023, he rushed for 174 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry.

Highland Prep Gets a Boost from Calini in 28-16 Defeat
Highland Prep was sadly handed a defeat on Friday, but Aeden Calini did his best to prevent it. Calini turned in nothing short of a gem, picking up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Highland Prep is 3-1 when Calini posts two or more receiving touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.
Calini must have Kingman Academy's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Calini saw the Tigers), he picked up 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Z'yeon Rondan Delivers Electric Effort Vs Cortez
Z'Yeon Rondan's big game helped extend Phoenix Christian's winning streak to five on Friday. Rondan was dynamite, rushing for 142 yards and three touchdowns.
If history really does repeat itself, Rondan might just drop another big game when he faces off against Mountainside on Friday. When Rondan last faced the Wolves back in October of 2023, he rushed for 49 yards and three touchdowns.

Liam Coye Turns in Season-Best Performance

On the season, Coye has averaged 10.5 total tackles per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after eight games last season, he was only averaging 4.38 total tackles per game.
