The Syracuse Academy of Science Atoms gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 85-24 win over Cortland at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-5.
Syracuse Academy of Science's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-0. As for Cortland, they bumped their record down to 0-3 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Syracuse Academy of Science will square off against Nottingham at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Nottingham knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Syracuse Academy of Science likes a good challenge. As for Cortland, they will head out on the road to face off against Institute of Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
