It was a good run, but the Overland Trailblazers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Mullen on the road and fell 69-40. Overland has struggled against Mullen recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Overland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Destiny Moore, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Seilani Relford, who scored 12 points.
Mullen found their leader in underclassman Makenzie Jones, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Jones, who scored ten points along with three blocks and two steals.
Overland's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. As for Mullen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Overland will be playing at home against Eaglecrest at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Eaglecrest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday. As for Mullen, they will head out on the road to challenge Cherry Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cherry Creek will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
