Everything went their way against East Hickman County on Friday as University School of Jackson made off with a 67-47 victory. Given University School of Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while East Hickman County is ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
University School of Jackson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mills Terry, who scored 18 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Brady Smith, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Jackson Central Merry, who are still winless after their seventh match. They took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Millington Central on Tuesday.
University School of Jackson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for Jackson Central Merry, they bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
University School of Jackson strolled past Jackson Central Merry when the teams last played back in November of 2015 by a score of 71-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for University School of Jackson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
