MMI Preparatory School is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will welcome the Hanover Area Hawkeyes at 4:45 p.m. MMI Preparatory School is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
MMI Preparatory School took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Weatherly get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. MMI Preparatory School hasn't had any issues with Weatherly recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Caleb Skuba made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Pesotine, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Pantages, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Hanover Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Dunmore, falling 8-1.
Hanover Area's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for MMI Preparatory School, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Hanover Area's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: MMI Preparatory School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. It's a different story for Hanover Area, though, as they've only averaged .330. Will they be able to contain MMI Preparatory School's hitters?
MMI Preparatory School took their win against Hanover Area in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-4. Will MMI Preparatory School repeat their success, or does Hanover Area has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
