Silver Bluff hasn't had much luck against Fox Creek recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Predators at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Silver Bluff lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Strom Thurmond, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Bulldogs blew past the Rebels 11-4 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Meanwhile, Fox Creek had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Predators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Will Fountain made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Manny Abro was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Julian Abro was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
Fox Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Silver Bluff's record is now 7-9. As for Fox Creek, their record now sits at 12-6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Silver Bluff has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fox Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Silver Bluff might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Fox Creek in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
