West Carteret is 1-9 against Richlands since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Patriots will square off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with West Carteret sitting on 12 straight wins and Richlands on six.
On Tuesday, West Carteret got the win against White Oak by a conclusive 9-1. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kaelyn Margoupis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addison Pavy was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Layla Garner, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
West Carteret hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White Oak struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Richlands duked it out with Croatan on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 2-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly two runs.
Not much got past Makenzie Goin, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Croatan off the board.
On the hitting side, Richlands saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addi Andrews, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
West Carteret's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Richlands, their record now sits at 12-4.
Richlands' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Carteret hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. It's a different story for Richlands, though, as they've only averaged .242. Will they be able to contain West Carteret's hitters?
West Carteret might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Richlands in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
