On Tuesday, Bridgeport sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 win over Communication Media Arts. The win was all the more spectacular given Bridgeport's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while Communication Media Arts is ranked 63rd).
It was another big night for Kimora Ellis, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 25 rebounds. The contest was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of My'Angel Smith, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Bridgeport and bumps their season record up to 4-3. As for Communication Media Arts, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1.
Bridgeport will take on Frankenmuth at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Frankenmuth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday. Communication Media Arts will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pershing at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th.
