South Brunswick is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on North Brunswick with a sharp 18-3 win on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Scorpions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Carly Clewis was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. TyiAnna Cummings was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
South Brunswick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Brunswick only posted an OBP of .238.
Meanwhile, Ashley came up short against Lumberton on Wednesday and fell 11-7.
Leah Tuscany made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Laina Toudle, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
South Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Ashley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Ashley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Brunswick hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. It's a different story for Ashley, though, as they've only averaged .199. Will they be able to contain South Brunswick's hitters?
