Warren Hills Regional and Bernards are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Blue Streaks will head out to square off against the Mountaineers at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Warren Hills Regional's win against Delaware Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Streaks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Terriers on Saturday. The Blue Streaks haven't had any issues with the Terriers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Laney Adie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Sienna Cardell was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Erin Boykin also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Meanwhile, Bernards got themselves on the board against Bound Brook on Monday, but Bound Brook never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Crusaders. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mountaineers.
Bound Brook's batters probably weren't too happy with Gabby Mongo, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (she gave up two walks). Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Mongo.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kriztina Lekai, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brooke Helpinstill, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Bernards hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Warren Hills Regional now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Bernards, their record now sits at 2-6.
