Harrison has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Harrison posted their closest win since November 27, 2023 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Sand Creek 45-42. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Harrison has scored all year.
It was another big night for Kenneth Jones jr, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gulong Craft, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, Mesa Ridge came tearing into Saturday's match with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 65-49 victory over Pueblo County. Mesa Ridge pushed the score to 55-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets cut but never quite recovered from.
Bryce Riehl and Tevin Riehl were among the main playmakers for Mesa Ridge as the former scored 20 points along with four steals and three blocks and the latter scored 20 points along with seven steals and five assists. Riehl hasn't dropped below three steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Zander Iwanski, who scored 13 points.
Harrison's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Mesa Ridge, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Harrison hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.9 points per game. However, it's not like Mesa Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 68.2 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Harrison might still be hurting after the 87-62 loss they got from the Grizzlies in their previous meeting back in January. Can Harrison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
