The Pymatuning Valley Lakers waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They strolled past Mathews with points to spare, taking the game 79-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Blake Krznaric, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caydence Wiser, who scored 16 points.
Pymatuning Valley's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Mathews, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pymatuning Valley will take on Grand Valley at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Valley is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. Mathews on the road again on Tuesday and play against Badger at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Badger knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Mathews likes a good challenge.
