Hunter is 0-8 against West since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Wolverines will host the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Hunter didn't have quite enough to beat Copper Hills and fell 12-11.
IZABELLA MAILO led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. SYDNI MILLER was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West). They were the clear victors by a 23-7 margin over Summit Academy on Wednesday. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Janayah Young was excellent, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Angelys Tapusoa, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
West's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Hunter, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
West's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hunter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .403. It's a different story for West, though, as they've only averaged .234. Will they be able to contain Hunter's hitters?
