Aubri Conklin and Allison Murphy were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Conklin struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Murphy tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Conklin went 3-for-4 with two runs, while Murphy went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Lawton let Paityn Beam and Lily McCory run wild. Beam went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while McCory went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Beam has posted over her last ten games. Another player making a difference was Gia Bridges, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Lawton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Schoolcraft came up short against Mendon on Thursday, falling 13-3.
Lawton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Schoolcraft, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16.
