Meanwhile, Mica Mountain can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They put the hurt on Northwest Christian with a sharp 38-17 win. The win was familiar territory for Mica Mountain who now have five in a row.
Mica Mountain's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Conner Hangarner, who rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Hangarner was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Another player making a difference was Jonah Garcia, who picked up 130 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Canyon del Oro's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-1 Mica Mountain and 8-2 Walden Grove (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.8% over those games). As for Mica Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Canyon del Oro has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 260.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mica Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 174.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
