The Highland Prep Honey Badgers will be playing at home against the Mountainside Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mountainside took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Highland Prep, who comes in off a win.
Highland Prep proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 49) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Phoenix Christian 41-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Highland Prep has posted yet this season.
Highland Prep can attribute much of their success to Anahi Nunez, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, and Trinity Alfaro, who scored 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nunez has scored at least a third of Highland Prep's points. Kendra Ibeh was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 14 rebounds and two blocks.
Mountainside played against Highland Prep and lost via forfeit.
Highland Prep's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Mountainside, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Highland Prep barely slipped by Mountainside in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 1-0. Does Highland Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountainside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
