Belfry has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Pike County Central Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Belfry fought the good fight in their overtime match against Phelps on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Hornets 71-66.
Zade Rash put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Daniels, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Pike County Central slipped by Magoffin County 76-75 two weeks ago. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pike County Central.
Belfry has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Pike County Central, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Belfry lost to Pike County Central on the road by a decisive 58-40 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Belfry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
