Meanwhile, Cleveland Heights unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. The match between them and Mentor wasn't particularly close, with Cleveland Heights falling 43-24. While losing is never fun, Cleveland Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Mentor is ranked 132nd).
Lakewood's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Cleveland Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Lakewood didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Cleveland Heights in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 54-49 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakewood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
