PikeView and Princeton are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. PikeView is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Monday just wasn't the day for PikeView's offense. They lost 10-0 to Shady Spring on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
PikeView saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Wyatt, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.
Meanwhile, Princeton made easy work of WestSide on Tuesday and carried off a 17-4 win.
Deegan Walters made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last five games. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Braydon Dalton looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
Back at the plate, Brody Combs was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jackson Lester was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs.
Princeton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as WestSide only managed six hits.
The loss snapped PikeView's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-10 record. As for Princeton, their victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-22.
PikeView took their win against Princeton in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 12-5 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
