After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fluvanna County, Goochland was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Albemarle Patriots by a score of 8-5. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Cameron Pickeral and Kyndall Shapiro did most of the damage at the plate: Pickeral went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Shapiro went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most runs Pickeral has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Shapiro, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Goochland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Goochland's record is now 7-4. As for Albemarle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goochland will venture away from home to square off against Louisa County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Albemarle, they will head out to challenge Western Albemarle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10.9 runs per game this season.
