The Fillmore Flashes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Malibu at home to the tune of 76-24. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded Fillmore with their most commanding win of the season.
Fillmore's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Weslow, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Octavio Orozco, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Malibu still got an impressive performance from Dylan Goosen, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 79.2% of Malibu's points, marking the 14th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Malibu struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fillmore racked up 12 assists.
Fillmore's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-17. As for Malibu, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
Fillmore will head out on the road to square off against Carpinteria at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carpinteria will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Fillmore surely won't give up without a fight. As for Malibu, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Channel Islands at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Channel Islands is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.
