La Costa Canyon has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Torrey Pines Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, La Costa Canyon came up short against Carlsbad and fell 41-34. While losing is never fun, La Costa Canyon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Carlsbad is ranked 12th).
Meanwhile, Torrey Pines' and Poway's contest on Thursday was close at halftime, but Torrey Pines turned on the heat in the second half with 21 points. Torrey Pines put the hurt on Poway with a sharp 38-14 win. The result was nothing new for Torrey Pines, who have now won three matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Jake Sweeney, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Sweeney's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Lukas Tu was another key contributor, throwing for 193 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.
La Costa Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Torrey Pines, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3.
Everything went La Costa Canyon's way against Torrey Pines in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as La Costa Canyon made off with a 32-7 victory. Will La Costa Canyon repeat their success, or does Torrey Pines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
