Firth waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Wendell Trojans. That looming 21-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Beau Ringel made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up two hits, which were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Darrell Vasquez was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Firth: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Brycen Andersen was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Firth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wendell only managed three hits.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-3. As for Wendell, they moved to 3-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Firth will take on American Falls at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars are facing the Beavers at the right time seeing as the Beavers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Wendell, they will challenge Marsing at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
