The Hutchison Sting entered their tilt with the Fayette Ware Wildcats with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Hutchison walked away with a 60-49 victory over Fayette Ware on Tuesday. Given Hutchison's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Fayette Ware is ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Fayette Ware had strong showings from Markala Terry, who scored 21 points, and Ke'miyah Buggs, who scored 18 points. Buggs scored a full 36.7% of Fayette Ware's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Markea Herron, who scored six points.
Hutchison's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. As for Fayette Ware, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hutchison will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Benedict at Auburndale at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Fayette Ware, they will head out on the road to face off against Middle College at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Middle College focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Thursday.
