After flying high against the Caseville Eagles last Tuesday, the Peck Pirates came back down to earth. Peck took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marlette. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Peck in their matchups with Marlette: they've now lost five in a row.
Peck's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Thomas West, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, and Carsten Lieblang who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The match was West's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Cal Heiden was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Peck's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Marlette, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peck will finish 2023 at home by hosting Caro at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Marlette will finish 2023 at home by hosting Richmond at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Richmond has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
