 In other batting news,  Gavin Taylor made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  got on base  in all three of his plate appearances with two  runs. Another player making a difference was  Jesse Gire, who  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with one  stolen base.
Villa Grove has  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record  this season. As for Central A & M, their win  ended  a  five-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 4-19.
 Looking ahead, Villa Grove will host Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Buffaloes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.63  runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Central A & M, they will head out on the road to  challenge  Brownstown/St. Elmo  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
