The Harding University Rams are on the road again on Friday and play against the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Harding University comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Harding University was beaten by Hough 63-6. Harding University was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 40 points the game before, West Mecklenburg were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 33-7 defeat at the hands of Mallard Creek. While losing is never fun, West Mecklenburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Mallard Creek is ranked 21st).
Harding University's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.2 points per game. As for West Mecklenburg, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Harding University was taken down by West Mecklenburg 56-8 in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Can Harding University avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
