AA District 4 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Carlos Barnette of Stone Memorial ran for the longest rushing play in AA District 4 this season against Sunbright last week. Barnette scampered for 77 yards on the play and finished with 77 on the day as his team bested the Tigers.
Christian Academy of Knoxville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Gibbs, 42-33. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Warriors.
Thomas Janow was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 186 yards on six carries as Stone Memorial beat Sunbright. Teammate Larry Breeden added to the ground attack by rushing for 114 yards.
Christian Academy of Knoxville's Charlie High and Davis Howell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AA District 4 in both passing and receiving yards. High has thrown for 1987 yards this season, while Howell, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 47 catches for 767 yards. Mark Wattenbarger's team's Janow leads the league in rushing yards with 552.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Rusty Bradley's team takes on Scott. The Warriors' offense has racked up 246 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Highlanders have allowed only 190 on the year.
Going into this week's game against Scott, Christian Academy of Knoxville's High needs 13 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
