The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs came tearing into Saturday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 54-49 W over Zionsville. That's another feather in the cap for Franklin Community, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin Community to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooklyn York, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Klem, who scored no points along with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Zionsville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Allie Caldwell, who scored 13 points along with seven assists. The match was Caldwell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Faith Leedy was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Franklin Community's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.44 points. As for Zionsville, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.
Franklin Community has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on December 23rd. Carmel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Franklin Community is ranked 16th). Zionsville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Castle at 12:00 p.m. on December 23rd.
