Elkhart is 0-5 against the Raiders since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Elkhart Lions will head out on the road to take on the Northridge Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Elkhart is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Elkhart gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by Mishawaka Marian on the road to the tune of 49-22. Given Elkhart's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Knights are ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Northridge had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-55 win over Warsaw on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Northridge.
Northridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Morgan Cross out in front who scored 20 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cross has scored all season. Rielyn Goodwin was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Elkhart is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Northridge, their victory was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3.
Things could have been worse for Elkhart, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-21 loss to the Raiders in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Elkhart avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
