The Santa Fe Indians's game on Tuesday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They suffered a rough 63-40 loss at the hands of Friendswood. While losing is never fun, Santa Fe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 748th, while Friendswood is ranked 279th).
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaidan Mata, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Ryland Chambless was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Santa Fe's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 10-14. As for Friendswood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Texas City the next time they take the court. Friendswood will host Texas City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Santa Fe will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
