Pueblo is 8-0 against Canyon del Oro since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Pueblo Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Canyon del Oro Dorados at 7:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Pueblo and six for Canyon del Oro.
Pueblo struggled with assists on Thursday (Sahuaro had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Pueblo took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sahuaro.
Pueblo's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of America Cazares, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, and Madison Williams who scored seven points along with seven steals. That was a full 40% of Pueblo's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Espinoza, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Canyon del Oro, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-39 loss to Sabino on Monday.
Pueblo has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Canyon del Oro, they bumped their record down to 7-15 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Pueblo against Canyon del Oro in their previous meeting on January 8th as the squad secured a 62-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pueblo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
