Baseball Recap: Smith Valley Extends Winning Streak to Three

Smith Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Tonopah Muckers as they made off with a 21-6 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won five matchups by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brody Lommori was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Smith Valley let Gaston Rodriguez and Luke Lannom run wild. Rodriguez went 4-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles, while Lannom went 3-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most doubles Rodriguez has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Brysen Walston, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Smith Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Smith Valley's record now sits at 9-1. As for Tonopah, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Smith Valley will venture away from home to take on Virginia City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Tonopah, they will welcome Lone Pine at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Muckers will need to watch out since the Golden Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
