On Wednesday, North Broward Prep lost to Palm Beach Gardens on the road by a decisive 63-45 margin. While losing is never fun, North Broward Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Palm Beach Gardens is ranked 30th).
North Broward Prep lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alexa Schwartz, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Edelson, who scored 11 points.
Palm Beach Gardens' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaliyah Magwood, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Magwood scored 15 or more points. Latasha Whyte was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for North Broward Prep and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Palm Beach Gardens, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-2.
North Broward Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Miami Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for Palm Beach Gardens, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Martin County at 7:30 p.m. Martin County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.2 points per game.
