The Beaverton Beavers will take on the Liberty Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Beaverton headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Churchill let them put that streak behind them. The Beavers were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Lancers on Tuesday. With that victory, the Beavers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Addison Riedel made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Riedel was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Gracie Burnett was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Mia Eberhart was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
Beaverton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over Centennial last Tuesday. The Falcons not only won last Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15, 2024.
Kylie Allen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Rylee Mathews and Natalie Rabe did most of the damage at the plate: Mathews went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Rabe got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Rabe has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carley Cunningham, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Liberty's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Beaverton, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Beaverton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Beaverton came up short against Liberty in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, falling 10-7. Will the Beavers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
