The Evergreen Plainsmen will square off against the Kelso Hilanders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Evergreen comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Evergreen is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Prairie on Monday, falling 14-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kelso, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They never let Evergreen get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Friday. With that victory, the Hilanders brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Paityn Mackin made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Kylie Killett looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Skylar Richie was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Karsyn Hall was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Kelso always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Kelso pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Evergreen, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
