The Corcoran Cougars's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-42 victory over Utica Academy of Science. The victory was just what Corcoran needed coming off of a 88-60 defeat in their prior match.
Utica Academy of Science's loss came despite strong showings from Akol Machteng and Doneilious King j.r. Machteng dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while King j.r scored 22 points along with two steals. King j.r hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games.
Corcoran pushed their record up to 5-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Utica Academy of Science, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corcoran won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Henninger at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Henninger is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Utica Academy of Science, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Green Tech at 2:30 p.m.
