Basketball Game Preview: Davis Darts vs. Riverton Silverwolves

Two dominant guards in T'Maea Eteuati and Faythe Stauffer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Davis Darts will face off against the Riverton Silverwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Davis strolled past Sky View with points to spare, taking the game 53-39.

Eteuati continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 of 21 on her way to 20 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Tarbet, who posted six points along with seven steals and six boards.

Meanwhile, Riverton won against Skyridge on Friday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Riverton breezed by Cyprus to the tune of 61-28. That 33 point margin sets a new team best for the Silverwolves this season.

Davis better keep an eye on Stauffer. She was instrumental in Riverton's win, going 8 of 13 on her way to 23 points and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Stauffer has scored at least a third of Riverton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Talbot, who had nine points and five steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Riverton and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Davis, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Davis has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Riverton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Everything came up roses for Davis against Riverton in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 64-37 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Stauffer, who posted 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Davis still be able to contain Stauffer? There's only one way to find out.
