Even though the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the Hilton Cadets still came out on top. Hilton took down Rush-Henrietta 71-56. Given Hilton's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Rush-Henrietta is ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Rush-Henrietta saw an underclassman step up: Jalen Taggart scored 22 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avery Council, who scored 13 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Hilton and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Rush-Henrietta, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Hilton will head out on the road to face off against Liverpool at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rush-Henrietta will be home for the holidays to greet Webster Thomas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
