Kyle Tipler made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Burke's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-15 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Alec Carlson and Tanner Pickett did most of the damage at the plate: Carlson went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Pickett went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Pickett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rigley Renbarger, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, Buena Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They lost 22-2 to Lincoln Northeast.
Buena Vista saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Ramiez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
Buena Vista's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Burke, their win bumped their record up to 5-15.
Everything went Burke's way against Buena Vista in their previous meeting on April 4th, as Burke made off with a 14-0 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Bison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
