The Battle Mountain Huskies posted their biggest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 47-27 margin over Basalt. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Battle Mountain has posted against Basalt since December 16, 2016.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Battle Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Izzy Kovacik, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kovacik has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elle Glendining, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Battle Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Basalt, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battle Mountain will challenge Durango at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Durango presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Battle Mountain in Colorado (Durango is ranked 90th, while Battle Mountain is ranked 238th). As for Basalt, they will head out on the road to square off against Rifle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rifle is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
