The Freeman Falcons had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came out on top against Wilber-Clatonia by a score of 43-31. Given Freeman's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Wilber-Clatonia is ranked 123rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wilber-Clatonia lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aiden Zajicek, who scored 14 points. Zajicek continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Skleba, who scored seven points.
Freeman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Wilber-Clatonia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Freeman will take on Glenwood at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Glenwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. As for Wilber-Clatonia, they will be playing at home against Palmyra at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
