Palm Harbor University is 8-1 against Dunedin since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hurricanes will venture away from home to face off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Palm Harbor University will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Palm Harbor University earned a 10-5 win over Academy of the Holy Names.
The team relied heavily on Emma Shipley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Jessica Baker was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Shipley wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Palm Harbor University lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dunedin). They put the hurt on St. Petersburg with a sharp 21-8 victory on Monday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Dunedin got a massive performance out of Aliyah Roseman, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Roseman's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maelaea Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base.
Dunedin is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Palm Harbor University, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Palm Harbor University has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Dunedin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Palm Harbor University took their win against Dunedin in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hurricanes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
