Lincoln has gone 6-1 against Buckhannon-Upshur recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Lincoln will head out on the road to take on Buckhannon-Upshur at 6:00 p.m. Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.4 runs per game this season.
Lincoln took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against East Fairmont by a score of 13-10. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bees: they've now won five in a row.
The team relied heavily on Aspen Dyer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Addie Moore, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Dyer wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Buckhannon-Upshur and Preston, and Buckhannon-Upshur kept the tradition alive. Buckhannon-Upshur put the hurt on Preston with a sharp 8-0 win on Saturday. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.
Kynnedy Marple made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Madi Knabenshue was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Quinn Burnside was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Lincoln now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Buckhannon-Upshur struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lincoln couldn't quite get it done against Buckhannon-Upshur when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-7. Can Lincoln avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
