After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Manny Lua in the first quarter,
Pomona (Calif.) was up 14-7 at the half.
The Red Devils grew their lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. Pomona scored two times in the third, including once on a
Jelani Staten touchdown run.
Lua and
Shawn Wilson teamed up to form a dynamic passing combination. Wilson has now caught three touchdowns this season, while Lua has thrown nine.
The victory will ease some of the sting of Pomona's close 16-14 loss to
Covina (Calif.) last season.
The loss comes after Covina defeated Walnut 42-14 last week. The loss ended Covina's two-game winning streak.
Pomona (5-0) will play a Valle Vista game against Northview next week, while Covina (2-3) will take on Northview also in a Valle Vista game.
