Baseball Recap: Bellarmine Prep Has No Trouble Against Lincoln

Bellarmine Prep never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Lincoln Abes as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Bryson Miller looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Xavier Espindola was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Bellarmine Prep: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Spencer Truebenbach was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Bellarmine Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln only posted an OBP of .364.

The win made it two in a row for Bellarmine Prep and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Lincoln, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bellarmine Prep will take on rival North Thurston at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3.8, the Rams 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Lincoln is set to challenge their familiar foe Capital at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
