Basketball Recap: International Community Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jace Grover and Paxton Boaz

International Community's loss came despite strong showings from Paxton Boaz and Jace Grover. Boaz dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten assists, while Grover shot 70% from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points. Boaz's big performance that evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Erza Rivera was another key player, putting up eight points and nine boards.

Innovation found their leader in sophomore Carlos Naranjo, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards set a new season-high mark for Naranjo. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahniel Phillipus, who went 6-for-12 en route to 14 points.

With the loss, International Community broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4. As for Innovation, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

International Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-52 win against Holy Cross Lutheran Academy on the 9th. As for Innovation, they will host Colonial at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
