Providence is 8-2 against Ardrey Kell since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will challenge the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Providence came out on top against Ballantyne Ridge on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Panthers never let the Wolves get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Casey Tomljonavic was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Emelia Zeng was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Providence hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Ardrey Kell made sure to put some runs up on the board against East Mecklenburg on Tuesday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Eagles. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Jenna Volturno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ardrey Kell got a big performance out of Jia Soe, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Leah Roggenbaum, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Providence's record is now 23-1. As for Ardrey Kell, their record now sits at 15-9.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Providence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .431. However, it's not like Ardrey Kell struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
